Active Play is a programme designed to improve the health and wellbeing of children by increasing physical activity through active and outdoor play. The programme has been delivered in schools across Glasgow since 2016 with the support of Glasgow City Council.
The programme is managed by Inspiring Scotland, delivered by community based charities FARE, Jeely Piece Club and PEEK with Actify providing ongoing training and development support.
If you are new to Active Play,
please watch this short introductory video
to get an idea of what the programme looks
like on the ground and how both
children and school staff benefit.
During the COVID-19 pandemic programme delivery has been paused while the majority of children are at home. However, the need for active and outdoor play will be all the greater, both now and as children return to school, as a range of health and wellbeing challenges arise.
To explore these themes in greater detail, we are planning to run a series of webinars for teachers and school staff, please find more details below.
Webinars
During the webinars we will provide some brief background to the programme
for those who are new to it, before discussing the related impact of the
pandemic on children’s health and wellbeing with relevant speakers and the audience.
Please reserve you space by clicking on the date you would like to attend below
